The Story

How it all started

I came upon jewellery making in a bit of a round about way. Needing a bit of a pick me up after having my second child, I started wearing earrings every day, for a bit of fun and to feel like I was actually getting properly dressed. Some women like lipstick, I chose earrings.

Inspired by materials we had round home left over from various projects, I started making earrings for myself. Then I made earrings as gifts for other people. People started asking me where they could get the earrings I was wearing. Then I was still making earrings and they needed somewhere to go but I was so nervous about putting my creations out into the world, I put it off for ages. So finally, after a giving myself a stern talking to, Copper Hawk Jewellery came about. I have done a couple of jewellery courses but a lot of what I've learned is through experimentation and the magic of the internet. I've expanded into other jewellery so I now make pendants and necklaces as well as rings and other things.

I work from home in Motueka. It’s taken time to build up all the tools and equipment I need but have a good wee setup now. I take pride in making as much of my jewellery as I can. So all the earring hooks, clasps, and jumprings are made from scratch by me. It's truly handmade jewellery.

I love doing this work and I love sharing it with you all even though I still get mad Imposter Syndrome!

Thanks for being here!
